PPG and Breakbulk Events and Magazine have entered into an informal alliance agreement to cover the participation of the PPG Education program during the 2011 - 2012 Breakbulk Conferences & Exhibitions: Breakbulk Europe Transportation Conference & Exhibition, Breakbulk Americas Transportation Conference & Exhibition, and Breakbulk China Transportation Conference and Exhibition. Under the agreement any Breakbulk staff wishing to attend a PPG Education Course may do so without cost and all PPG Education Course students will receive a complimentary exhibit-hall-only pass to the second day of the Breakbulk conference and exhibition.

Specialist project forwarding network the Project Professionals Group were among the first in the industry to learn about Hansa Heavy Lift’s operations and a new Indian coastal service during presentations at the group’s fourth annual conference in Rio de Janeiro at the Sofitel Copacabana from June 15-17, 2011. More than 70 members attending the meeting despite flight disruptions caused by the eruption of the Puyehue volcano in Chile. The Hansa presentation outlined fleet capabilities following the change over from Beluga Shipping. Sai Freight announced the launch of Butterfly Sailings that provides vessels capable of delivering project cargos through low drafted rivers or into congested Indian ports to minimise delays.

The 7th PPG ISO Accredited 'Certificate of Achievement in Project Cargo Management' education program from 13 – 14 June 2011 immediately preceded the PPG annual conference and was rated by all participants as another runaway success. Participants came from USA, Australia, Portugal, Brazil, Angola and Thailand and brings to 111 students from 35 countries. The PPG education program is now recognised as the leading educator in project forwarding in the world and is receiving deserved recognition from the global community. Participants also included representation from Ship Broker Sea Concert (Thailand) and Breakbulk Magazine & Conferences.

CRUX_CONFERENCE_003 The directors of Australia’s largest insurance, corporate and government investigation group, Crux Investigation Group, recently held their annual conference in Queensland. PPG General Manager, Kevin Stephens, presented a motivational address on networking, marketing and “separating yourself from your competition”. Crux Investigation Group have their own offices in every State of Australia and thus cover every corner of the country. The parallels and synergies between project forwarding and providing national investigation services was not lost on all participants, as we all face successful tendering, communication, compliance and increasing demands from clients wanting increasing services at reduced cost are all daily challenges we all face.

Project Professionals Group and TransProject have been recognised as a major specialist service provided for the international renewable energy industry following the success of the joint PPG/TransProject USA booth at the American Wind Energy Association Windpower 2011 Exhibition in Anaheim California. The booth was visited by the world’s leading renewable energy companies and all PPG participants gained invaluable contacts, leads and many genuine business opportunities.

The inaugural Informa Lloyds List DCN Breakbulk and Project Cargo conference in Perth at Novotel Langley Hotel immediately preceded the sixth PPG 'Certificate of Achievement in Project Cargo Management' education program from 18-19 May 2011. Over 105 students from 32 countries have now completed these courses. We are delighted to advise that the program was a huge success, with all students advising of their complete satisfaction. The course contained a wealth of knowledge and information sharing which we are certain will hold all attendees in good stead for the future and assist them in changing their future understanding and approach to project cargo management. Participating students came from Australia and Germany and follows the success of the first course in Mumbai, India (Jan 2009); Bremen, Germany (Oct, 2009; Singapore (Feb 2010); Houston, USA (Oct 2010) which was held in conjunction with The Journal of Commerce Breakbulk Exhibition; Singapore (Jan 2011) in conjunction with the Breakbulk Asia conference and exhibition.

PPG General Manager, Kevin Stephens, and Rodger Hall from Sun Communications, were invited as guest speakers in this event and delivered a presentation entitled “Shaping the Future: The Certificate of Achievement in Project Cargo Management training course developed by the Project Professionals Group and Sun Communications”. Lloyd’s List DCN hosted the inaugural Breakbulk and Project Cargo 2011 conference on the 16th and 17th of May, 2011 at the Novotel Langley Perth.

Western Railway, Vadodara Division for the first time decided to launch steel girders across six  railway tracks at ROB, Jetalpur (Railway Overbridge) in place of pre-stressed concrete girders, weighing 125mt – 135mt each.  Five girders fabricated by the contractor and placed on the bridge were required to be lifted and placed in position with the help of suitable capacity mobile cranes. The dimensions of the steel girders were 32m span, 2m height and 0.65m width, weighing 22.5mt each. Since the overbridge passes through the heart of the city and with the space constraints, it was not possible to place the cranes over the bridge due to load restrictions.

Intramar was established in 1981 with its corporate headquarters in Melbourne, and branch offices in Sydney, Brisbane, Townsville, Adelaide, and Perth.

 

FLResortLogistics1 Freight Links International (Colombo) has developed and commenced its unique "Resort Logistics". This total logistics initiative includes construction of passenger Jetty's, cargo transport by modified speedboats, Managing staff and boat transport between the mainland and a 5-star, 170-room island resort which is located approximately 6 klms north west of Sri Lanka. The hotel is still at the first phase of construction. The first speedboat was commissioned on 27th February 2011 and commenced operations on the same day by transporting hotel staff and delegates to the island.
