PPG Project Support member and independent association of air freight wholesale specialists, Air Cargo Group, has two major events planned for South America this year to further develop global partnerships and value-added international services exclusively for freight forwarders. Air Cargo Group (ACG) members will gather in Buenos Aires from March 29 to April 1 for their seventh annual conference and, along with its global partners, will exhibit at Intermodal South America in Sao Paulo from April 5-7.


Michael D. Scott was administered the oath of office by Lloyd Neal, Nueces County Judge in a ceremony held today Monday, January 10, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. at the Port’s Administration Building located at 222 Power St. Michael was appointed by Nueces County last November. A native of Corpus Christi, a graduate of Carroll High School and a former member of the United States Marine Corps, Scott is the Vice-president of H&S Constructors, Inc., a company dedicated to refinery construction, pipelines and compressor stations.


PPG Thailand, Leschaco (Thailand) Ltd., successfully moved part of a chemical plant from Industrial Estate Laem Chabang, Thailand, to Jakarta port, Indonesia. The biggest piece had the dimensions of L 250m x W 5.300m x H 3.500m and a weight of 58 tonnes. The total volume of the project was 1,500 freight tons as break bulk and another 14 containers. The scope of work comprised of packing, lifting by cranes, transport to port, BOI customs clearance and sea freight. After several months of planning the packing operations started on 22 November 2010 and the last piece of cargo was lifted aboard vessel on 10 December. The sea freight for all break bulk was arranged in cooperation with PPG Project Support Member Sea Concert (Thailand) Co., Ltd. The cargo was discharged at Jakarta on 15 December.


Great Eagle Shipping Lines (GESL) has officially launched in Hong Kong. The official launch was held in Hong Kong on 9th December, 2010 on the 16th floor of the Asia Orient Tower, Wanchai. GESL will launch 7 container vessels for their Intra-Asia Service after Chinese New Year. Great Eagle shipping Lines Ltd. was founded in Hong Kong on September 9, 2009 by Captain Igal Dafni. The company was established to target the major growth areas of Intra-Asia. With the initial establishment of the company, the team has a talent pool with more than 100 years of experience throughout Intra-Asia.



Interfreight Ltd, a member of heavy-lift network the Project Professionals Group,  has been named as a Top 100 mid-sized company in Uganda. The awards are an initiative of professional services network KPMG and the publishers of the Daily Monitor newspaper.  PPG general manager Kevin Stephens congratulated Interfreight on its achievement and recognition as a stand-out business service provider in the African market.


Shin-Jo Logitech Co., Ltd., Korea, in conjunction with PPG Gold sponsor, Coli Shipping, have successfully concluded the transportation of two Transformers and related accessories from South Korea to Sudan on 15 November 2010. Shin-Jo Logitech’s scope of services included transportation to Busan Port and safe shipment to Port Sudan, Sudan. Overall dimensions 136 Pkgs / 329.332 Tonnes / 744.570cbm with each Transformer: L7.400m x W2.700m x H4.600m / 87.000tonnes.


A complimentary free pass to the exhibit hall during the 3rd Breakbulk Asia Conference & Exhibition at Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre will be provided to students attending the Certificate of Achievement in Project Cargo Management training course from January 27-28, 2011. The course, developed by overdimensional cargo network the Project Professionals Group, will run in conjunction and partnership with JoC Breakbulk Events & Magazine as part of Breakbulk Asia’s education component. This year’s 21st Annual Breakbulk Transportation Conference & Exhibition attracted more than 3,800 attendees and nearly 220 exhibits, a record in both attendees and exhibit booths for the event held Oct. 11-15 at the George R. Brown Convention Centre in Houston. The Fourth PPG-Sun Communications 'Project Forwarding Education Course' was held in conjunction with this world-class industry event, with 26 students successfully completing the Certificate of Achievement in Project Cargo Management at the end of the program.



PPG Members, Vantage Logistics Corp., Vietnam and Shin-Jo Logitech Co., Ltd, Korea recently concluded a major charter on board vessel "Sao Kim" ex Pusan to Dung Quat. The commodity comprised piping and piping components for a major oil project in Dung Quat (Vietnam). The vessel sailed Korea on 8th October and arrived Vietnam 17 October 2010.  And comprised 1,200 freight tones with a cargo value of over US$1,2 million.
